I mentioned “sepsis” almost in passing in my previous blog post, “I used to be a Speech and Language Therapist“. As I found to my cost in late 2013, it is a very insidious and dangerous condition.
Due to a very serious illness in October 2013 I have not worked as a Speech and Language Therapist for some time now. I have kept my CPD updated to the best of my ability, reading up date research, attending local CPD activities and learning much on-line via forums, tweet chats, etc. and via involvement with an AAC theatre project. The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) is inviting people to enter photographs of their Giving Voice events since 12 October 2012 – and the twelve best images will be included in a 2014 calendar:
Luckily, there are a couple of photo’s and videos of the Giving Voice “open stage” with the Left Hand Stair Ukes at Bar Loco, Newcastle upon Tyne on 23rd April. Julie Carr, who joined us on ukulele, has already written about this event in her “Julie Giving Voice” blog:
I trawled through the videos to try to find some suitable clips and it was all rather blurry. psychedelic and wobbly. An excellent evocation of the evening – but calendar material? Mmm . . . we will have to see what the judges think.
